Long have I labored in the food service industry. I started as a dishwasher, oh so long ago, and slowly worked my way up to be.... A dishwasher. I started at a local hole-in-the-wall place, got fired, baked potatoes at a regional chain, had to drop out for school, became a dishwasher at a hoydy-toydiy local place, then got fired because my dad had a stroke (They were bastards). Such long years of torment and suffering. And then, a ray of light, a balm for my fevered brow. I landed a job at a used bookstore, and loved every minute of it. I honestly wanted to spend out the rest of my days surrounded by old books, gently cataloging and shelving
